| CASE STUDY : |
Jessica (Québec, Canada) |
|
Jessica is an adult student who is hard of hearing. She
attends an organization whose purpose is to reintegrate persons
with disabilities into the workforce. Jessica is following
amongst many things, a computer class. Even though Jessica had a
personal FM system, she was having a hard time following what
the instructor was saying. Jessica is a very good lip reader. In computer class, it was impossible for her to both look at her computer screen and the teacher's face directly at the same time. That is when the organization asked AudiSoft to provide them with an AudiSee system. In Jessica's particular case, AudiSoft was able to send the video signal from the portable AudiSee screen to Jessica's computer. Jessica could thus see the teacher's face directly on the bottom right hand side of her computer screen enabling Jessica to work on a computer application (example: Word, Excel, etc.) and follow her teacher's instructions at the same time. With this setup, Jessica could scan between her computer application and her teacher's face with very little effort. |
